Green-fingered Residents Get To Work In Annan Court’s Gardens

Resident gardening enthusiasts are putting their horticultural talents to good use at Annan Court during the lockdown, by getting to work in the Home’s gardens.

Several Residents have been enjoying regular outdoor activity sessions in the Home’s grounds where they’ve been gardening in the sunshine.

Activities Co-ordinator June Fitzpatrick has invested in some new forks and trowels for the group, and the Home has been gifted some bedding plants by their local Young Farmers.

So, with plants ready to be bed in and a list of other gardening jobs to get on with, Residents have been having a great time getting the garden in shape for summer.

June said: “We’ve got a lot of keen gardeners here and it’s terrific to have an activity to do outdoors when the weather has been so good.

“It was so kind of the Young Farmers to donate the plants to us, so my Colleagues and I have been taking different Residents out to help plant them up.

“We’re blessed to be in a beautiful location here, so it’s going to be fantastic to have a lovely garden to enjoy this summer.”

Maintenance Officer Billy McCulloch has been helping the Residents and June to get everything they need to complete their garden jobs.

The evolution of the garden is being chronicled on Annan Court’s dedicated Facebook page where Relatives of the Residents have been excited to see it taking shape.

June added: “We’ve got the pansies in now and it’s all coming together. We can’t wait to show everyone how it looks when the garden starts to bloom later this year.”
