Former Stonedale Carer Delivers Floral Tribute To Raise Spirits

A kind-hearted florist who used to work at Stonedale Lodge delivered a stunning floral surprise to brighten the days of Residents and Colleagues.

Jemma Whalley, who was previously a Care Assistant at the home, left to set up Blessington Boutique and Florist in Liverpool.

During the pandemic lockdown, Jemma got in touch with Home Manager Annette Janvier to ask if she could deliver a selection of flowers for every unit at Stonedale Lodge if she maintained social distancing.

According to Annette, Jemma wanted to pay tribute to key workers and to raise awareness for the incredible work done by her former Colleagues.

Annette said: “When Jemma emailed me to ask if she could deliver some bouquets to us, I was delighted – it was such a lovely gesture.

“She explained that she wanted to bring some joy, to give something back to the care sector and to make sure we felt appreciated.

“The flowers she delivered were absolutely stunning and were so much appreciated by all of us. It was a lovely thing for Jemma to do.”

The flowers were delivered on Saturday 13th June when Jemma arrived to leave them for Colleagues to collect outside each of the six units. She also created a special bouquet for Annette herself.

Annette said: “After her delivery, Jemma emailed me to say what a fantastic afternoon it was.

“Although she had to stay outside, she was able to see some of her former Colleagues from a distance and to catch up. Jemma told me that the experience was fantastic, and she was so glad she could do something to show her appreciation.

“Everyone here is so grateful to her for lifting our spirits at a very challenging time.”
