A Day to Remember at Hammerwich Hall Care Home Delights Residents and Raises Funds for Charity

Hammerwich Hall Care Home recently hosted a heartwarming and unforgettable “A Day to Remember” event, bringing joy, laughter, and meaningful experiences to Residents, families, and Colleagues alike.

The event was a special celebration for resident Barbara (Barb), who enjoyed a full day of pampering, entertainment, and surprises. The morning began with a relaxing pamper session, where Barb was treated to hair styling and nail care, setting the tone for a truly special occasion.

With beautiful weather gracing the day, plans were spontaneously adapted to host a delightful afternoon tea party in the care home’s garden. Guests were entertained by talented singer Becca Gee, whose performance created a lively and uplifting atmosphere throughout the afternoon.

At 3pm, the much-anticipated arrival of the “Butlers in the Buff” brought smiles and laughter to all. Barb, in particular, was overjoyed, with a smile “from ear to ear” as she enjoyed the experience. The butlers were praised for their kindness and professionalism, ensuring Residents, families, and Colleagues all felt comfortable and included. In a wonderful show of team spirit, Chef Jake also joined in with the Butlers in the Buff, embodying the fun and inclusive spirit of the day and bringing even more smiles and laughter to everyone present.

The event was well attended by guests from the local community, families and the wider organisation, including Mark Dale, Dave Togoto, Claire Walters, Ian Brown, and members of the social media team, all of whom joined in celebrating the occasion.

A delicious spread of homemade food was expertly prepared by chefs Dan and Jake, with support from neighbouring homes. The menu included a wide selection of sandwiches (smoked salmon, cheese and pickle, ham and mustard), homemade scotch eggs, sausage rolls, quiche, fresh salads, carrot cake, scones, cheese scones, Black Forest gâteau, lemon drizzle cake, and cheesecake. These were served alongside prosecco and non-alcoholic alternatives, adding a celebratory touch to the afternoon.

Barb expressed her happiness, describing the day as “wonderful” and thoroughly enjoying every aspect of the experience.

Funds raised during the Butler in the Buff afternoon will be donated to the Stroke Association, Barb’s chosen charity, who provide life-changing support to stroke survivors and their families. They offer vital services including rehabilitation support, emotional guidance, practical advice, and research funding aimed at improving prevention, treatment, and recovery. For many individuals, strokes can have a devastating and life-altering impact, and organisations like the Stroke Association play a crucial role in helping people rebuild their lives, regain independence, and feel supported every step of the way.

The event was made possible through the “Day to Remember” initiative, funded by EF Group as part of the B Happie Framework. This framework places Residents firmly at the heart of their care, focusing not only on physical wellbeing but also on emotional fulfilment, personal identity, and the joy of lived experiences. It encourages teams to truly understand each Resident’s wishes, passions, and life stories, creating opportunities for meaningful moments that go beyond day-to-day care.

Days like this are a powerful reminder of the importance of living life to the full at every stage. By enabling Residents to fulfil dreams, experience new joys, and share special moments with others, the B Happie Framework supports confidence, connection, and overall wellbeing.
