A Day to Remember: Patricia’s Return to the Saddle at Burrswood Care Home

Burrswood Care Home recently brought a lifelong dream back to life for resident Mrs Patricia Coote, as part of Advinia Healthcare’s B Happie “A Day to Remember” initiative.

At 85 years young, Patricia was given the opportunity to reconnect with a passion she had loved in her younger years — horse riding. Having once spent time in the saddle, Patricia never imagined she would experience that joy again. However, thanks to the thoughtful nomination by the Burrswood team, her wish became a reality.

Accompanied by her sons, Simon and Stephen, and Wellbeing Coordinator Gina, Patricia travelled to Phoenix RDA in Burnley, where she was warmly welcomed by the team. With their expert support and encouragement, Patricia enjoyed a truly special moment riding a gentle horse named Tom. The care and dedication shown by Jenny and the team at Phoenix RDA ensured Patricia felt safe, comfortable, and confident throughout the experience.

The day was filled with smiles, emotion, and a sense of achievement, as Patricia embraced a moment that connected her past with the present. Following her ride, the group celebrated the occasion with a lovely meal at Miller & Carter, giving them time to reflect on a day filled with joy and meaningful memories.
