Adorable Therapy Puppy Brings Joy to Residents at Madeira House

On Saturday, January 18th, Madeira House Care Home welcomed a very special guest—Sky, an adorable therapy dog in training. Residents spent a delightful morning cuddling and playing with Sky, whose presence brought smiles, laughter, and even a few happy tears.

The visit was especially poignant for JH, a resident who was deeply moved by memories of their own beloved dog, which was the same color and breed as Sky. “It feels like a beautiful reminder of happy times,” JH shared, wiping away tears of joy.

Resident DW was equally enchanted, exclaiming, “Oh my goodness, you are so cute! I can’t wait for my son to meet you.” Meanwhile, MS, a devoted dog lover, eagerly reached out to cuddle Sky as soon as she arrived. MS regularly enjoys visits from the family chihuahua and was thrilled to welcome another furry friend into their day.

Sky’s visit is just the beginning of what promises to be a regular treat for residents, with monthly visits planned to enhance social and mental well-being. The experience highlighted the power of animal-assisted therapy in sparking joy, evoking cherished memories, and fostering connections among residents.

Everyone at Madeira House is eagerly looking forward to Sky’s next visit, where more precious moments are sure to be shared.
