Advinia Care Embarks on Veteran Friendly Framework Journey to Better Support Armed Forces Community

31 July 2026

Advinia Care has proudly begun its journey towards achieving Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) accreditation across a number of its care homes, reinforcing its commitment to delivering truly person-centred care that recognises and celebrates the unique life stories of every resident.

The Veteran Friendly Framework is a nationally recognised quality improvement programme that helps care homes identify, understand and support military veterans, as well as their spouses and partners. Delivered in partnership with Royal Star & Garter, the Royal British Legion and the NHS Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance, the initiative provides specialist training, resources and best practice guidance to ensure veterans receive the recognition and support they deserve.

The launch brought together colleagues from across Advinia Care, including representatives from the Head Office Support Team, Home Management, Customer Relations, Sales & Marketing, Operations, Wellbeing and Hospitality teams. The collaborative event reflected Advinia’s shared commitment to ensuring residents’ personal histories are recognised and celebrated as part of everyday care.

The first Advinia homes to begin working towards Veteran Friendly Framework accreditation are Bedford Care Home, Oxford Manor Care Home, Parklands Court Care Home and Woodstock Care Home. These homes will pave the way for the framework to be introduced across the wider Advinia Care family in the future.

Mark Dale, Head of Hospitality at Advinia Care, said:

“Introducing the Veteran Friendly Framework is an exciting step forward for Advinia Care. It gives us another opportunity to celebrate the incredible lives and achievements of our residents while ensuring our teams have the knowledge and resources to provide the very best support. We’re proud to be embarking on this journey together and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have across our homes.”

Sarah Merriman, Head of Dementia at Advinia Care, added:

“Every resident has a unique story, and for those who have served in the Armed Forces, recognising that part of their identity can make a real difference to their wellbeing. The Veteran Friendly Framework will help our teams deliver even more personalised, meaningful care, while creating opportunities for veterans and their spouses to share memories, build connections and feel truly recognised for their service.”

Research suggests that around one in twelve care home residents in England has a military background, yet many veterans have never spoken about their service, while spouses and partners have often shared in the unique experiences and sacrifices that accompany Armed Forces life. By adopting the Veteran Friendly Framework, Advinia Care will be better equipped to identify veterans within its homes, celebrate their contributions, reduce social isolation and strengthen links with dedicated veteran charities and support organisations.

This initiative is another important step in Advinia Care’s ongoing commitment to enriching the lives of residents through compassionate, personalised care. As more homes begin their accreditation journey, the organisation looks forward to creating even more opportunities for veterans and their families to feel recognised, valued and connected within their care home communities.
