Braemount Care Home’s Wellbeing Coordinator Honoured as Nursing Support Worker of the Year

1 August 2024

In an inspiring celebration of dedication and compassion, Angela Brown, the Wellbeing Coordinator at Braemount Care Home, has been awarded the Nursing Support Worker of the Year by the RCN Scotland Nurse of the Year Awards. Angela received this prestigious honour earlier this year, recognising her exceptional contributions to the field of care support.

With an impressive 28 years of experience, Angela has been a pillar of strength at Braemount Care Home. Her colleagues and the residents know her for her kindness, enthusiasm, and unwavering commitment to advocating for the individual needs of those in her care. Angela’s compassionate approach and genuine concern for the wellbeing of others have made her a beloved figure within the care home community.

Angela’s dedication goes beyond her daily responsibilities. She consistently demonstrates adaptability, efficiency, and thoroughness in her work, completing tasks with excellence and on schedule. Her leadership shines through in her latest endeavour, the “Strength and Balance” project. This innovative program aims to improve the health of residents in care homes by focusing on physical fitness and mental wellbeing. Angela’s remarkable dedication to this initiative is evident in her willingness to work extra hours and adjust her schedule to ensure the project’s success.

Despite facing numerous challenges, Angela’s unwavering commitment has ensured the project’s continuation and positive outcomes, earning praise from both residents and their families. “I do what I do to make the home a happy place. That’s what the classes are, a happy time,” Angela said, highlighting her passion for creating a joyful and supportive environment for everyone involved.

Angela’s efforts extend beyond her formal role as a Wellbeing Coordinator. She is actively involved in fundraising and enhancing the residents’ quality of life through various initiatives, including personalised Christmas decorations and team encouragement. Her inspirational leadership and drive have been instrumental in fostering a positive and caring atmosphere at Braemount Care Home.

Angela’s remarkable achievements have not gone unnoticed. In addition to her award from RCN Scotland, she received a letter from the Scottish Parliament acknowledging and commending her outstanding work. This recognition further underscores the significant impact Angela has made on the lives of those around her.

Angela is a shining example of what it means to be a dedicated and compassionate care support worker. Her tireless efforts and commitment to improving the lives of others have made her a well-deserving recipient of the Nursing Support Worker of the Year award. She continues to inspire her peers and serve as a role model for the next generation of care support workers.

Thank you for all your hard work, Angela. We’re proud to have you as part of the Advinia family.
