Celebrating ‘Hero of Happiness’ – Recognising Passion That Makes Every Day Special

At Advinia Health Care, we know that exceptional care is created by exceptional people. Across every one of our homes, there are colleagues whose compassion, dedication and commitment make a lasting difference to the lives of residents, families and fellow team members. These individuals are our Heroes of Happiness.
The Heroes of Happiness programme celebrates the people who go above and beyond every day to create moments of joy, dignity and connection. Whether through a simple act of kindness, an innovative idea, or an unwavering commitment to person-centred care, these heroes embody the values that make Advinia homes such special places to live and work.
Our Wellbeing Coordinator, Terri, has been recognised as a Hero of Happiness after being nominated by our Head of Dementia, Sarah Merriman, in recognition of her outstanding passion, dedication and the positive impact she has on everyone around her.
Terri’s enthusiasm is infectious. Every day she creates meaningful opportunities for residents to remain active, connected and engaged, developing activities and experiences that are tailored to individual interests, abilities and life stories. From welcoming local community groups into the home and organising seasonal celebrations to encouraging creativity, laughter and friendship, she continually finds new ways to make life at Bishops Cleeve Care Home fulfilling and enjoyable.
Her commitment extends far beyond planning activities. Terri builds genuine relationships with residents and their families, taking the time to understand what matters most to each individual and ensuring they feel valued, heard and included. Her energy, positivity, and compassion have helped shape a warm and vibrant home where residents can truly thrive.
Having nominated Terri for the award, Sarah Merriman, Head of Dementia, added:
“Terri’s passion for enriching the lives of our residents is evident in everything she does. She has an incredible ability to understand each person as an individual and creates experiences that promote purpose, independence, and joy. She is an outstanding ambassador for person-centred dementia care and thoroughly deserves this recognition as one of our Heroes of Happiness.”
To mark this well-deserved recognition, Terri was presented with her Heroes of Happiness award by Mark Dale, Head of Hospitality, alongside Sarah Merriman, Head of Dementia. It was a wonderful opportunity to recognise not only Terri’s achievements, but also the incredible difference she makes every single day through her commitment to enriching the lives of others.
