Cheese, Wine, and Laughter at Longwood Grange Care Home

23 January 2025

Residents at Longwood Grange Care Home enjoyed an unforgettable cheese and wine evening filled with delicious treats, good company, and plenty of laughs. The event featured an impressive selection of 0% alcohol beverages, including Cambalala red wine, Chardonnay, Prosecco, Prosecco Rosé, and Greyson’s Gin, all of which were praised for their delightful taste.

Accompanying the drinks was an array of cheeses—Camembert, Brie, Cheddar, White Stilton, Cheshire, and Red Leicester—along with mince pies, crisps, and mini cheddars. The cheese proved to be a huge hit, disappearing quickly as residents indulged in their favorites.Norma was particularly excited for the festivities to begin, taking on the role of “trolley lady” and helping Karen, the Well-Being Coordinator, serve mince pies to her fellow residents—though she couldn’t resist sneaking a few for herself. The music from the 70s, 80s, and 90s added to the lively atmosphere, with residents singing along and dancing to familiar tunes.

John was a fan of the red wine and Camembert, sharing, “I enjoyed it, it was a good day.” Barry agreed, saying, “Very enjoyable, want more days like that.” Meanwhile, Winnie opted for tonic water with her cheese and had a lovely afternoon. Norma giggled as she sipped her Prosecco Rosé and joined in the dancing.

The event sparked joy and brought everyone together. Sheila remarked, “I enjoyed the Rosé, Prosecco, and Bucks Fizz,” while Joyce C added, “Fun afternoon, lots of laughs, loved the wine.” Muriel summed up the collective sentiment by asking, “When are we having another one?”

Karen, who organized the event, reflected on its success: “I think everyone enjoyed the day—I know I did. Lots of laughing, something out of the ordinary, and stimulating.”

With such glowing feedback, it’s clear that Longwood Grange’s cheese and wine evening was a resounding success and has left residents eagerly anticipating the next celebration.
