Christmas Reindeer Dreams Come True at Oxford Manor Care Home
7 January 2026
This Christmas, a simple yet deeply heartfelt wish shared by a resident at Oxford Manor Care Home was transformed into a magical reality, creating a moment of joy and connection that will be cherished by residents, families, staff and the wider community for years to come.
As part of a seasonal wellbeing initiative, residents weere invited to reflect on what would truly bring them happiness and place their wishes on the home’s ‘wishing tree’. When one resident shared a long-held wish to see real reindeer, it immediately struck a chord with the team. Understanding how meaningful this dream was, there was no hesitation, the focus quickly became on how to make it happen.
From the moment the wish was dsicovered, Home Manager Flenton D’Cruz and Customer Relations Manager, Philip McAlliser, set into motion a plan to bring festive magic to life. Working closely with Head of Hospitality, Mark Dale, who worked behind the scenes, the team coordinated every detail with care and dedication. With the generous support of Sarah and Reindeer 2 Hire, the wish soon became a joyful reality.
Wehn reindeer Cupid and Tinsel arrived at Oxford Manor, they were met with wide smiles, excited laughter and a sense of wonder. Residents, families, and members of the local community gathered to share the moment, while local children joined the celebrations, creating heartwarming intergenerational memories filled with festive cheer.
Resident Margaret was visibly moved by the experience, saying;
“Oh, aren’t they absolutely gorgeous? I always see them on TV. It’s amazing, I can’t believe I’ve seen them.”
The sense of joy was echoed by families attending the event. One family member shared:
“A huge thank you for the event you have put on today. The kids have really enjoyed it, it’s amazing, but I think the residents have as well.”
Her child captured the magic of the moment perfectly, adding:
“They are really fluffy.”
The visit formed Oxford Manor’s ongoing wellbeing programme, which encourages residents to share meaningful wishes and experiences that matter most to them. This initiative sits within Advinia Healthcare’s group-wide ‘B Happie’ programme, designed to create uplifting, enriching moments that support residents’ emotional wellbeing and sense of connection.
The day was made even more special thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm of all Oxford Manor staff, who came together to create a fun, welcoming and truly festive atmosphere. Residents and visitors enjoyed delicious seasonal treats lovingly prepared by the home’s Chef, Alejandro, while the sounds of music, laughter and Christmas cheer filled the home. With colleagues from every department getting involved, the celebration reflected the strong sense of family and togetherness that defines live at Oxford Manor.
Reflecting on the occasion, Home Manager Flenton D’Cruz said:
“Creating meaningful moments like this is what Christmas is all about. When we heard this wish, we knew we had to do everything we could to make it happen. Seeing our residents surrounded by joy, kindness and community spirit has been incredibly special.”
Oxford Manor Care Home would like to extend its heartful thanks to Sarah and the team at Reindeer 2 Hire, as well as to every staff member who helped bring this magical day to life. Moments like these truly capture the spirit of Christmas and the warmth of the Oxford Manor community.
