Craigbank Care Home Celebrates Cultural Diversity with Vibrant World Cup-Themed Event

28 July 2026

Residents, families and colleagues at Craigbank Care Home in Possilpark came together for a colourful celebration of culture, community and togetherness during a special World Cup-themed cultural event.

The home was transformed into a vibrant showcase of international traditions, with flags from around the world decorating the home and music from different countries creating a lively atmosphere. Staff proudly wore traditional clothing representing their own cultural backgrounds, giving residents the opportunity to learn more about the rich diversity of the people who care for them every day.

Guests were also treated to a delicious selection of international snacks and cuisines, allowing everyone to sample flavours from across the globe while celebrating the many cultures that make up the Craigbank family.

Adding a distinctly Scottish touch to the festivities, piper Jaz Scot attended in full Highland dress and performed for residents and visitors, celebrating the home’s local heritage alongside the many cultures represented throughout the day.

The event welcomed residents, loved ones and members of the local community, creating a joyful occasion filled with conversation, laughter and shared experiences.

Claribel Durairaj, Home Manager at Craigbank Care Home, said:

“We had a fantastic time celebrating so many different cultures – bringing the outfits, tastes and music to our home.

“Each one of us brings our unique perspective and background to our roles, but we are united in our mission of care, which is a beautiful thing.

“The residents thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the outfits and sampling so many different cuisines during this truly joyful event.”

Resident Dorothy Thomson, 73, added:

“It was wonderful to see all these different outfits and to try some new food.

“It made for a very colourful day and one that I really enjoyed being a part of.”

The celebration reflected Craigbank Care Home’s commitment to creating meaningful experiences that embrace diversity, encourage learning and strengthen the sense of community within the home. By celebrating the cultures of both residents and colleagues, the event highlighted how shared experiences, respect and understanding can bring people together and enrich everyday life.
