Deanfield Care Home Celebrates Mother’s Day with Music, Flowers, and Intergenerational Joy
15 April 2025
Deanfield Care Home was filled with love, laughter, and music as residents, staff, and guests came together to celebrate Mother’s Day in a heartfelt event that brought generations closer.
The highlight of the day was a beautiful balloon arch donated by the daughter of one of our service users, AL. The thoughtful gesture added a special touch to the celebration, creating the perfect backdrop for photos and plenty of smiles. Tables were decorated with fresh daffodils, adding springtime cheer and colour to the room.
Residents enjoyed a nostalgic afternoon listening to classic hits from the 1950s and 60s. The familiar tunes inspired many to sing along, with some even swaying to the rhythm, creating a wonderful atmosphere of warmth and connection. Tea, coffee, and a delicious selection of cakes were served, making it a true celebration for all the amazing women in our home and in our lives.
Adding even more joy to the day, the local nursery children—who regularly visit Deanfield—were part of the celebrations. Their weekly visits have become a cherished part of our routine, especially as they’ve helped maintain the raised flower beds in our garden. On a previous visit, they joined the gardener in planting bulbs and climbing roses, which are now starting to bloom beautifully.
These intergenerational visits are truly special. They lift the spirits of our residents, spark fond memories, and give the children valuable lessons in empathy and care.
It was a Mother’s Day to remember at Deanfield, filled with love, connection, and the beauty of growing together.
