Farm on Wheels Brings Smiles, Cuddles and Community Spirit to Parklands Court Care Home

8 June 2026

Residents, families, and colleagues at Parklands Court Care Home recently enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of animal therapy and outdoor fun thanks to a special visit from Farm on Wheels.

The home welcomed Stella and her team, who brought along a delightful selection of animals including Racket the Donkey, baby lambs, chickens, ducks, and guinea pigs. The visit encouraged everyone to spend time outdoors in the fresh air, creating a lively and heartwarming atmosphere throughout the home.

Residents were given the opportunity to interact closely with the animals, with many enjoying feeding the lambs their milk bottles, stroking the donkey, and cuddling the guinea pigs as they sat comfortably on their laps. The experience sparked conversation, laughter, and fond memories among residents, many of whom shared stories of growing up around animals or life in the countryside.

Resident Joyce thoroughly enjoyed the experience and said: “Oh, how lovely it was to see the animals. I really loved feeding the lambs.”

The event proved popular with residents, relatives, and staff alike, bringing everyone together for a shared experience that promoted social connection, wellbeing, and meaningful engagement.

Stella was particularly touched by the atmosphere within the home and praised the dedication of the team. She commented: “I have never visited a care home where the staff are so loving towards their residents. Every single department came out, knew every resident, attended to their every need, and sat down with them to ensure they felt the love and affection. It was so fulfilling and heartwarming to see.”

Home Manager Rachel added: “This has been such a heartwarming and fun afternoon here at Parklands. Seeing our residents, families, and staff all come together just shows what a great home we are.”

The visit was a wonderful reminder of the positive impact animals can have on wellbeing, bringing comfort, companionship, and plenty of smiles to everyone involved.
