Fun Food Friday Brings Laughter and Delicious Creations to Maycroft Care Home
11 February 2026
Over the past few months, Maycroft Care Home has introduced a wonderfully popular new activity — Fun Food Friday — and it has quickly become a firm favourite with residents, staff, and visitors.
Fun Food Friday brings the whole home together in a shared experience filled with creativity, conversation, and plenty of laughter. Residents have rolled up their sleeves to make a variety of delicious treats, including pear tart, pizza, freshly baked bread rolls, savoury muffins, plum cake, and banana bread.
When preparing dough for bread rolls, there were plenty of playful complaints about sore muscles from all the kneading — though the smiles on residents’ faces said it all! The activity is designed to be inclusive, ensuring everyone can take part in a way that suits them. Some residents enjoy measuring ingredients or chopping fruit and vegetables, while others prefer the sensory experience of mixing dough or stirring cake batter.
Of course, no baking session would be complete without a little tasting along the way — whether it’s nibbling a slice of salami while preparing savoury dishes or debating who gets to lick the bowl when something sweet is on the menu!
Visitors often join in when they’re around, frequently commenting on the joy and warmth the activity brings to the home.
There’s something truly special about preparing food together. It creates a homely atmosphere, encourages teamwork, and sparks happy memories. Best of all, everyone gets to sit down and enjoy the delicious results together at the end — and so far, every creation has been a success!
Fun Food Friday continues to fill Maycroft with the comforting smells of home baking and the even sweeter sound of shared laughter.
