Game Show Friday Brings Big Laughs and Bigger Smiles at Haydale Care Home

14 April 2025

Haydale Care Home turned back the clock with a fantastic Game Show Friday, blending laughter, nostalgia, and friendly competition in a lively event inspired by classic British game shows The Generation Game and Bullseye.

Residents were welcomed by none other than “Jim Bowen” and “Bruce Forsyth” — or rather, their enthusiastic stand-ins from the wellbeing team donning iconic facemasks. With catchphrases like “Nice to see you, to see you nice!” echoing through the lounge, the scene was set for a day of fun and entertainment.

Participants took turns spinning the famous prize wheel and aiming at the dartboard, hoping to win everything from the coveted “speedboat” to a well-loved treat like a Milky Way bar. The atmosphere was filled with lighthearted banter and cheerful competition, promoting joy, engagement, and a sense of togetherness.

Resident Patsy McTaggart had everyone in stitches when, after winning two Milky Ways, she quipped with a big laugh, “Is my cheque in the post?”

Wellbeing coordinator Isabel Cummings shared, “This activity was a great hit. It was lovely to see our residents’ competitive sides come out as they challenged each other, encouraged one another, and shared so much laughter.”

The day served as a powerful reminder that joy, memories, and a little bit of silliness can go a long way in boosting emotional and mental well-being.
