Goldielea Celebrates Burns Night with Music, Memories, and a Taste of Scotland

27 January 2025

Goldielea marked the start of its next Armchair Tour with a vibrant and heartwarming celebration of Burns Night, bringing the best of Scotland to the comfort of home.

The event kicked off with an unforgettable performance by Piper Callum Watson, who piped the haggis into the room, adding a traditional and festive touch to the gathering. Callum’s stirring address to the haggis was met with applause, and the music that followed had the room tapping their feet and clapping along. As the tunes filled the air, residents were transported back in time, with the power of music evoking memories of past celebrations.

The festivities continued with an impromptu Scottish sing-along, creating a joyful and connected atmosphere. As dinner was served, the kitchen team, led by Susan and Caroline, earned rave reviews for their delicious spread, with many residents returning clean plates. One resident summed up the experience perfectly, saying, “It was lovely jubley!”

Residents shared fond memories of their own Burns Night traditions, reminiscing about where they used to buy their haggis and which brand was best. The day was a wonderful reminder of the importance of cultural connection, with the knowledge that people all over the world were also celebrating Burns Night, enjoying haggis, and honouring Scotland’s beloved poet, Robert Burns.

The celebration was not only about the food and music, but about fostering a sense of community and shared heritage, making this Burns Night extra special for all at Goldielea.
