2 July 2025
On Thursday 19th June, Golfhill Care Home marked Care Home Open Week with a heartwarming afternoon of tea, music, and laughter, bringing together residents and staff for a truly joyful celebration.
The care home’s gardens were beautifully decorated, setting the scene for the day’s festivities and bringing smiles to residents’ faces as they stepped outside into a vibrant, cheerful atmosphere.
Guests were treated to a stunning spread of homemade delights, lovingly prepared by the home’s talented chefs. The menu included lemon tarts, assorted cupcakes, and handmade sandwiches, all complemented by refreshing glasses of ice-cold ginger beer and Shloer. Adding a sweet summer touch, Chef Hugh and Kitchen Assistant Alexander even stepped out of the kitchen to help the wellbeing team serve up fresh ice cream cones, much to the delight of everyone.
Resident Elizabeth Gilmartin summed up the mood perfectly, saying “It was a fantastic day,” while Margaret Nolan laughed, “My face hurts from how much I’ve been smiling!”
The afternoon continued with a lively karaoke session, where residents Josephine, Marie, Betty, and Tracy stole the show with their spirited performances. Their enthusiasm was infectious, getting staff up on their feet and dancing along — a true highlight of the day.
The event captured the spirit of Care Home Open Week, showcasing the warmth, connection, and shared joy that defines life at Golfhill. As one team member noted, “It’s always fantastic to see our residents and staff come together like this — it’s what makes Golfhill feel like family.”
