12 February 2025
Gorton Parks Care Home marked the Chinese New Year with a vibrant celebration, bringing together staff, residents, and their families for an unforgettable day of live music, dancing, and delicious Chinese food. The festivities, held at Abbey Hey House on Wednesday, January 29th, featured a lively atmosphere as residents and staff danced to their favourite tunes, including songs from Abba, Dolly Parton, and country music.
Entertainer Sharon provided the music, keeping everyone on their feet and in high spirits. Residents sang along, enjoyed the food and drinks, and even took to the dance floor, creating a heartwarming, energetic atmosphere. Family members also joined in the fun, with one family member expressing their gratitude, saying, “Thanks so much for all you do. I think what you all do for the residents is fantastic, and it means so much.” Another family member remarked, “These parties are fantastic, and my mum looks forward to attending.”
Resident Val couldn’t hide her excitement, saying, “What a great party! When’s the next one?” It was clear that everyone enjoyed the celebration. The music, food, and togetherness helped boost the morale of both staff and residents, bringing smiles to everyone’s faces. The sense of community was strong, as families, staff, and residents came together to share in the joy of the occasion.
Looking ahead, Gorton Parks Care Home plans to continue these joyous celebrations, with the goal of hosting at least one party per month across the site, ensuring that fun and happiness remain a key part of everyday life for residents.
