Gorton Parks Celebrates Mother’s Day with Music, Dancing, and Heartfelt Moments
15 April 2025
On Tuesday 26th March, Sunny Brow House at Gorton Parks Care Home was filled with music, laughter, and love as residents, families, and staff came together for a joyful Mother’s Day celebration.
The star of the afternoon was local singer Sharon Blakemore, who delivered a heart-warming performance that had everyone on their feet. Residents clapped along, sang their hearts out, and even took to the dance floor—joined by family members, staff, and Sharon herself. The party created a beautiful atmosphere, celebrating the remarkable women who are mothers and fondly reminiscing about their own.
“This has been such a great party—I haven’t stopped dancing!” said resident Val, beaming with joy.
Guests enjoyed a delicious spread of sweet treats, including cupcakes and heart-shaped shortbreads, served alongside tea, coffee, and juice. The refreshments added to the warmth and charm of the celebration.
Family members were invited to join the festivities, with one relative sharing a touching message: “Thanks so much for all you do—making my sister happy, seeing her smile and dance gives me so much joy. Thank you for everything.”
The event lifted spirits and brought residents together, encouraging conversation, connection, and celebration. It was a beautiful way to honour the mothers within the home and reflect on cherished memories.
Gorton Parks continues to host monthly parties like this one—each bringing laughter, music, and meaningful moments to all who attend.
