Gorton Parks Grandmother Says She Doesn’t Feel Her Age After Turning 100

17 February 2026

A grandmother from Gorton Parks says ‘she doesn’t feel’ her age after turning 100 this month.

Margaret Shaw was a bundle of joy as her loved ones surrounded her to celebrate the momentous milestone recently.

The former home help, who now resides at Gorton Parks Home, showed her wit and playful side when replied with a cheeky answer to a question the secret to making it to 100.

“The secret? I don’t think I’m 100 and I don’t feel like I am, someone must have got that wrong!” She teased.

Margaret is cared for by the dedicated Advinia Healthcare team, who threw her a party at the care home on Taylor Street.

Despite her teasing, Margaret thoroughly enjoyed being the centre of attention during a joyful celebration that included a performance by singer Craig.

Family was very important to Margaret, who was married to her husband Maurise and had a son whom they named after his father.

Her warm personality and zest for life make Margaret a firm favourite amongst the care team, who love caring for her.

Home Manager Barbara Cameron said: “Margaret is such a wonderful lady and a joy to care for.

“We were excited to throw her a party and celebrate this remarkable milestone in her life.

“Very few people get to live to such a grand age, and so it was fantastic to be there with Margaret to make the most of her special day.”
