Hammerwich Hall Celebrates a Joyful and Fun-Filled Care Home Open Week

15 July 2025

Hammerwich Hall Care Home was buzzing with excitement and activity as residents, families, and staff came together to celebrate Care Home Open Week 2025 with a packed schedule of heartwarming events.

The week kicked off on Monday 16th June with a lively performance by singer and entertainer Damian. His music filled the home with joy, and residents couldn’t help but sing along. One of the most special moments came when resident Katie took the spotlight and gave a beautiful solo performance of her favourite song, “We’ll Meet Again” by Vera Lynn—leaving not a dry eye in the house.

On Wednesday 18th June, the home embraced International Picnic Day in true summer spirit. Residents gathered in the beautifully landscaped garden to enjoy a picnic spread lovingly prepared by Chef Angie, including sandwiches, sausage rolls, pork pies, homemade scones with cream and jam, and decadent chocolate éclairs. Fresh fruit salads, watermelon slices, and colourful mocktails added a refreshing touch.

The celebrations continued on Thursday with the gardening club led by Paulina. Residents rolled up their sleeves and enjoyed replanting cucumber plants—an activity that brought smiles and a sense of pride to all involved.

On Friday, creativity took centre stage during an art therapy session led by Dominique, offering residents a peaceful moment of self-expression. And on Saturday, the week wrapped up with a fun-filled bingo session, with volunteer Mikey charming everyone as the guest bingo caller.

A huge thank you goes to our dedicated Wellbeing Team, Paulina and Dominique, whose passion and care made this week truly special for all.
