Haydale Care Home Hosts Annual Daffodil Tea to Welcome Spring
11 March 2025

Today at Haydale Care Home, residents gathered for the much-anticipated annual Daffodil Tea to celebrate the arrival of spring. The care home was filled with bright yellow blooms and the cheerful chatter of residents as they embraced the changing season with tea, treats, and lively company.
The event reflected the B Happie pillars—Safe, Connected, and Relaxed—as residents felt safe in the familiar and caring environment, connected through shared stories and laughter, and relaxed while sipping tea and enjoying an array of seasonal treats.

Adding to the joyful atmosphere, residents chose rock and roll music, which had everyone on their feet. The home buzzed with energy as residents danced between bites of delicious yellow-themed cakes, perfectly matching the daffodil décor.
The daffodils, a symbol of new beginnings, filled the room with warmth and optimism. This event marks the launch of Haydale’s spring activity planner, which will feature more outdoor activities, gardening sessions, and spring-themed events.

Margaret McDonald, a resident, shared her delight, saying, “What a way to start the morning—I feel refreshed and happy!”
Ella McLeish added with a cheeky smile, “I grew those daffodils in my garden—I’ll give you more if it means another cake!”

Isabel Cummings, Wellbeing Coordinator, reflected on the success of the event: “The daffodil tea morning always brings with it the spring sunshine and creates a buzz around the home. It’s a reminder that winter is over and spring is on its way, which means we can start to enjoy the gardens again and look forward to what the new activity planners have to offer.”
