Haydale Care Home Kicks Off Wimbledon with Annual Strawberry and Cream Party

In line with our “B Happie” theme of Fun Fridays, Haydale Care Home celebrated Wimbledon with its annual Strawberry and Cream Party, a cherished tradition that has become a highlight of the year for residents and staff alike.

This event is more than just a nod to the famous tennis tournament; it’s a vital part of our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our residents. Social events like these play a crucial role in fostering a sense of community, reducing feelings of isolation, and promoting overall well-being.

Alice Softley, a long-term resident, teamed up with the wellbeing team to ‘serve’ a delightful array of treats from a festive trolley. The spread included fresh strawberries and cream, bucks fizz served in champagne glasses, and snowball treats resembling tennis balls, adding a playful and thematic twist to the festivities.

Residents engaged in friendly games of tennis, creating opportunities for light exercise and physical activity, which are essential for maintaining mobility and health. Themed music like “Ready, Set, Match” played in the background, enhancing the festive atmosphere and encouraging participation.
