Haydale Care Home Residents Take a Trip Down Memory Lane with Causeway Church

Residents at Haydale Care Home in Tollcross enjoyed a nostalgic trip back to their school days thanks to a special themed visit from their friends at Causeway Church.

The ladies from the church have shared a wonderful friendship with Haydale for more than 10 years, regularly visiting the home and bringing residents together through themed events, music and companionship.

For their latest visit, the group turned back the clock by dressing up as schoolgirls and arriving with a playful selection of school-themed props and music.

The afternoon soon had residents reminiscing about their own childhoods, swapping stories about favourite subjects, school friendships and the mischief they got up to in their younger years. There were even memories of the dreaded ‘belt’ for misbehaviour, prompting plenty of laughter and lively conversation around the home.

Resident Rosa Mowatt said:

“School days were a mixture of fun, friendship and a few times when you knew you were in trouble!

“The memories stay with you forever, especially the laughter and the people you shared those days with.”

The visit was another lovely opportunity for residents to reminisce together, with familiar music and school memories helping to spark conversations and stories that might otherwise have remained tucked away.

Reminiscence activities are an important part of life at Haydale, providing residents with opportunities to share their experiences, celebrate their individual histories and connect with those around them.

The Haydale team would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the ladies of Causeway Church for their continued friendship and for once again bringing so much fun and warmth into the home.

After more than a decade of visits, the relationship has become a much-valued part of life at Haydale, and everyone is already looking forward to welcoming the group back again.
