Haydale Care Home Shines Bright with Causeway Church’s Festival of Light

Haydale Care Home was illuminated with joy and inspiration this month as the ladies from Causeway Church brought their monthly themed visit to life with the “Festival of Light.” Led by Minister Monika Michelin, the event captivated residents with the beautifully shared “Story of Light,” highlighting the profound message: “The light opens our eyes and our hearts.”

The Causeway Church ladies went all out, dressing in theme, bringing props, and gifting “bags of light”—lantern-like white bags with battery-operated candles that glowed warmly in residents’ bedrooms. Resident Ella McLeish shared, “My lantern was reflecting off my wall and brightened up my bedroom on this dark night.”

Alice Softley expressed her excitement, saying, “I look forward to the visits and am so excited to see what the theme will be.”

The event was accompanied by music that celebrated light, including favorites like “This Little Light of Mine” and “Shine.” Residents joined in, singing, clapping, and even dancing to the uplifting tunes, making the day an unforgettable celebration.

Wellbeing Coordinator Isabel Cummings shared her thoughts on the impact of the event, saying, “The January blues certainly aren’t at Haydale with this enlightening event.”

Over the years, the monthly visits from the Causeway Church have become a cherished tradition, with growing attendance and anticipation among residents. Their dedication to creating meaningful experiences, complete with thoughtful themes and gifts, continues to bring light and happiness to the home.
