Intergenerational Connections at Ryland View: A Heartwarming Afternoon with Smarty Pants Nurseries
18 November 2024

Ryland View Care Home came alive with laughter and joy as children from Smarty Pants Nurseries in Tipton visited for a delightful intergenerational meet-up. Although a planned petting zoo had to be cancelled, the children brought the animal theme to life with their vibrant masks and colourful balloons, spending a memorable afternoon connecting with residents.

Walking through the care home’s houses, the children showcased their creativity and energy, spreading happiness everywhere they went. Resident Sharon couldn’t contain her excitement, saying with a big smile, “Aren’t they lovely, hello!”
The visit was a part of Advinia’s ongoing “B Happie” initiative, aimed at fostering meaningful connections and creating moments of joy for residents. Hazel, one of the residents, expressed her delight: “It’s always so lovely to see the children come in, it brightens my day.” For Hazel’s son, Chris, the afternoon was particularly special: “This is lovely for Mom, she loves children!”

The children didn’t just bring joy—they also received some. Activities Coordinator Sarah shared how the little visitors enjoyed a fun colouring session: “The children enjoyed all the colouring, and it’s nice as our residents love seeing the children. It makes them so emotionally happy!”
Norman, another resident, added a sweet touch to the day, saying, “They were lovely children, I loved the animal masks, so I gave them all a little chocolate.” Nurse Sola echoed this sentiment: “They have brought so much joy to our residents, so we gave them some chocolate to enjoy!”

The afternoon was filled with smiles, laughter, and even a few tears of happiness, as residents and children shared a special bond. The simple yet meaningful interaction reminded everyone of the power of community and connection. Ryland View would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to Smarty Pants Nurseries for their visit and the joy they brought. As Sarah summed up, “These moments are priceless. Seeing the residents light up emotionally and the children enjoying themselves is what makes days like these so magical.”
