14 April 2025
West Ridings Care Home was alive with music, laughter, and heartwarming memories as Calderdale House welcomed the incredibly talented Ukulele Henry for a joyful afternoon of entertainment.
Performing for over two hours, Henry’s vibrant set list spanned generations—from Elvis Presley classics and wartime sing-alongs like It’s a Long Way to Tipperary, to crowd favourites from Wham and Take That. Residents from across the home, along with family members, gathered to enjoy the music, creating a warm and lively atmosphere.
Henry’s interactive performance had everyone joining in. Residents sang into the microphone, danced with the performer, and shared plenty of laughter thanks to his charming banter. One special moment came when Tito, a resident from Italy, was serenaded in his native language—earning a big smile and plenty of applause.
Music sparked touching emotions as well. One gentleman shed happy tears when a familiar tune brought back cherished memories. And residents were still beaming afterwards—June said, “I could listen to him singing all day,” while Jean added, “I really enjoyed myself, I really did.”
The entire afternoon was filled with joy, connection, and music—leaving everyone already looking forward to Henry’s next visit.
