Kingsway Care Home Spreads Love and Joy on Valentine’s Day

Kingsway Care Home was filled with love, laughter, and celebration this Valentine’s Day, as residents and staff came together for a heartwarming day of activities, music, and delicious food.

The day began with residents enjoying Valentine’s-themed crosswords, chatting with staff, and reminiscing over classic 80s hits playing on the TV. Meanwhile, the home was transformed with festive decorations, setting the perfect atmosphere for a special three-course meal.

As lunchtime arrived, residents gathered in the beautifully decorated dining room to indulge in a delightful Valentine’s menu that truly impressed everyone. The meal started with a choice of crispy potato skins with a rich garlic dip or a comforting homemade vegetable soup. The main course featured two tempting options: braised steak with sauté potatoes and seasonal vegetables or pork steak served with chipped potatoes and peas. To round off the meal, residents enjoyed sweet treats of meringue nests with fruit and cream or a classic cookies & cream dessert. The potato skins and garlic dip proved to be a particular hit, with many residents expressing their delight at the flavourful dish. With no empty plates in sight, the kitchen staff were praised for their outstanding efforts in preparing a memorable meal.

The celebrations continued throughout the afternoon with a variety of engaging activities. Residents took part in a Valentine’s-themed colouring competition, with the winner set to receive a specially made hamper. In the lounge, card-making sessions allowed residents to craft heartfelt messages for their loved ones, using beautiful flowers and heart decorations. Every resident received a handmade Valentine’s card and a thoughtful gift from Kingsway—a little bag filled with chocolates and heart-shaped sweets. For those unable to enjoy chocolates, an alternative of hot chocolate cones with marshmallows was provided, ensuring everyone could share in the joy.

Adding to the lively atmosphere, some residents took a scenic stroll around the local village, while others gathered in the lounge for a cheerful sing-along. Laughter and music filled the home as residents and staff sang at the top of their voices and danced along to their favourite tunes, creating wonderful memories of togetherness and joy.
