Kingsway Open Day Brings Music, Sunshine, and Community Spirit

Open Day, where Residents, families, staff, and local visitors came together to celebrate under a perfectly sunny sky.

The day began with the gates opening to the wider community, welcoming everyone to enjoy the vibrant garden space, delicious homemade food stalls, a tombola, and—most importantly—plenty of smiles. “It was a beautiful day,” one Resident said. “The singer sang beautifully, and it was great singing with her dad. It cheered me up and made the rest of my day better.”

The highlight for many was the debut performance by the talented singer Jodie, whose powerful voice and warm energy had the crowd clapping, singing, and dancing along. “Everyone was up dancing,” a Resident shared. “The singer was fantastic.” Jodie took requests from Residents and guests, leaving a lasting impression. “She blew us away,” one staff member said. “We’ll definitely be inviting her back!”

The entertainment continued with an outstanding performance from a young Irish dancer, whose energy and skill captivated the entire audience. “She had everyone mesmerised,” said a staff member. “It was lovely to see our Residents smiling and clapping along.”

The tombola stall brought fun and surprises, raising funds for the Residents’ activity fund. “Who doesn’t love a few random goodies to take home?” one visitor laughed. Meanwhile, the kitchen team received glowing praise for their delicious pies, quiches, and cakes—adding to the homely warmth of the day.

“It was a perfect day,” said one staff member. “Everyone was smiling, dancing, and just so happy.” Another Resident summed it up beautifully: “I enjoyed it all—it made me happy.”

A community really is a family—and at Kingsway, that feeling was stronger than ever.
