Love is in the Air at Madeira House This Valentine’s Day

This Valentine’s Day, Madeira House Care Home celebrated love in its purest form, honoring a couple who truly embody the meaning of togetherness. John and Mary, Madeira House’s only married couple, have shared a remarkable 70 years of love and companionship, with 60 of those years spent as husband and wife.

John was the first to move into Madeira House due to a decline in his health. It wasn’t long before Mary, unable to be apart from her beloved husband, made the heartfelt decision to join him as a permanent resident. Their enduring bond is a beautiful testament to the strength of love.

To mark this special day, Madeira House went the extra mile to make the couple feel cherished. Residents and staff organized a romantic, secluded Valentine’s Day meal for the couple, complete with wine and roses, offering a moment of peace and intimacy.

Mary, deeply touched by the surprise, commented, “This has been wonderful, we might not see another one.” John, equally appreciative, expressed his gratitude, unable to thank everyone enough for such a thoughtful gesture.
