Love, Laughter and Community Spirit at Maycroft Care Home Valentine’s Celebration

Residents, families and members of the local community came together at Maycroft Care Home to celebrate Valentine’s Day with an afternoon full of love, laughter and heartfelt memories.
In the week leading up to the celebration, residents enjoyed decorating the home with beautiful Valentine’s displays, helping to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the special event. As part of the preparations, the team also spoke with residents about what love means to them — prompting touching reflections and cherished memories.
One resident shared a particularly moving description of romance, saying:
“Oh, the feeling of romance, it’s lovely, it goes right through you and it tingles!”
As she spoke, her eyes glistened and her shoulders shuddered as she remembered the feeling, capturing the timeless magic of love that the day was all about.
The event proved extremely popular, welcoming many visitors from the local community, including families and children. Guests were greeted with a thoughtful touch — each person received a rose on arrival, with a choice of red, white or pink, adding a splash of colour and warmth to the afternoon.
The celebrations featured a delicious spread of pink-themed cakes and sweet treats, which were enjoyed alongside fantastic live entertainment from the fabulous Pauline. The atmosphere was joyful throughout, with residents and guests joining together for lively sing-alongs that filled the home with music and smiles.
