On Friday, Ryland View Care Home came together to host a heartwarming Macmillan Coffee Morning, organised by Activities Coordinator Sarah, to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. The event featured a coffee and bake sale, which managed to raise an impressive £55 for the charity.
Sarah, who led the event, expressed her gratitude to everyone involved. “I want to thank everyone who came and donated, we really appreciate it,” she said. The event was particularly special as it welcomed back Deputy Manager Rino, who had just returned in time for the occasion. “It’s lovely to be back at Ryland and to be part of this special day. To raise money has been an honor—what a great fundraising event!” Rino remarked.
Residents and staff were enthusiastic participants in the morning’s activities. Resident Hazel shared her excitement, saying, “Ooh lovely, what a lovely thing to raise money for!” Tom from the kitchen praised the quality of the treats, noting, “The cakes are amazing! Such a wide variety for such a great charity, which means a lot to so many different people!”
The care home’s admin, Jess, highlighted the significance of the event’s cause. “Every little donation helps. It’s such a good charity to raise money for, as it has helped and is helping a lot of us who have or are suffering with a long-term illness—fantastic!” she said.
The event showcased the community spirit at Ryland View, bringing together residents, staff, and visitors to support a cause that touches many lives. Sarah concluded, “Every little bit helps—thank you to everyone who took the time to come in, those who bought and made cakes, and everyone who helped.”
