Madeira House Care Home Kicks Off Care Home Open Week with Music, Dancing and Laughter

Residents, families, staff, and members of the local community came together at Madeira House Care Home on Monday 15th June to celebrate the start of Care Home Open Week with a lively afternoon of music and entertainment.

The event featured a talented local singer who performed a variety of well-loved songs, creating a joyful atmosphere that had residents singing along, tapping their feet, and dancing throughout the afternoon. The performance took place between 2pm and 3pm and was attended by residents, relatives, staff members, and visitors from the wider community.

As the music played, residents enjoyed refreshments including tea, coffee, cakes, and biscuits while spending quality time together and sharing in the celebrations. The event reflected the welcoming and inclusive spirit of Madeira House, where community engagement remains at the heart of everyday life.

One particularly memorable moment came when the singer experienced a few technical difficulties due to slow Wi-Fi. As he apologised to the audience, resident Hilda Wright quickly reassured him by calling out, “Don’t you worry yourself, chicken!” Her quick wit brought laughter to the room and had residents, staff, and family members smiling and chuckling together.

The afternoon was filled with warmth, friendship, and plenty of laughter, providing residents with an opportunity to socialise, reminisce, and enjoy live entertainment in a relaxed setting.

Care Home Open Week is an opportunity to showcase the vibrant life within care homes and strengthen connections with the local community. The event at Madeira House was a wonderful start to the week and set the tone for a programme of activities designed to bring people together and celebrate life at the home.

With smiles, music, and dancing throughout the afternoon, the event was enjoyed by everyone who attended and highlighted the positive impact that shared experiences can have on wellbeing and community spirit.
