Madeira House Care Home Welcomes Sarah Merriman, Head of Dementia from Advinia Health Care
26 January 2026
Madeira House Care Home, part of Advinia Health Care, was delighted to recently welcome Sarah Merriman, Advinia’s Head of Dementia, as she visited the home to continue the rollout of her new dementia framework. Sarah spent two dedicated days at Madeira House working closely with the team, delivering her advanced dementia training programme as part of Advinia’s ongoing commitment to excellence in dementia care.
Sarah brings extensive professional expertise alongside powerful personal experience, having been inspired by caring for her grandmother. Her approach focuses on truly understanding the lived experience of dementia and creating environments where people feel valued, safe, and empowered to live well.
During her visit, Sarah met with colleagues across the home, sharing practical knowledge and strategies to support communication, meaningful engagement, and person-centred approaches. The training equipped staff with enhanced skills and confidence, ensuring care is tailored to each individual resident’s needs, preferences and life story.
Julie, Home Manager at Madeira House, said: “This training is invaluable in ensuring our teams continue to grow, develop and feel confident in the care they provide. By upskilling our staff, we can make sure that every decision we make remains focused on the individual, their wellbeing and what matters most to them.”
The visit reflects Advinia’s wider dementia framework, which prioritises continuous learning, compassionate leadership and a shared commitment to delivering outstanding, personalised care. Madeira House is proud to be part of this journey and looks forward to embedding the learning into everyday practice for the benefit of residents and their families.
