Maycroft Care Home Hosts Annual Summer Fete with Fun, Food and Community Spirit
29 September 2025
Maycroft Care Home recently held its much-anticipated annual Summer Fete, and although the weather didn’t allow for the garden party originally planned, nothing could dampen the incredible atmosphere of the day.
The event was officially opened by the Deputy Mayor of Royston Town, who spoke warmly of Maycroft and praised the dedication of the staff. Guests then enjoyed a delicious BBQ, with plenty of compliments for the chefs, before being treated to live entertainment from Budgie, whose music had residents, visitors, and staff dancing together on the floor.
The fete was filled with laughter, smiles, and touching moments, with visitors commenting: “Maycroft really knows how to throw a party,” “fantastic hosts,” “my mum looks so happy,” and “it was so lovely to see residents interacting and chatting with each other.”
Highlights included a lively tombola, where one lucky guest even won back her donation, as well as an exciting raffle with beautifully presented hampers that left winners thrilled. Guests also enjoyed a cake stall, drinks stall, freshly baked scones with cream and jam, and fun games in the garden, despite the less-than-perfect weather.
The success of the fete was made possible thanks to the generosity of Maycroft’s families and friends, who contributed countless donations and volunteered their time to help with preparations and stalls.
It was a day full of joy, music, food, and community spirit — and another reminder that Maycroft truly knows how to bring people together.
