Maycroft’s Summer Fete Raises £379 for Residents’ Fund
22 September 2026
Maycroft Care Home welcomed residents, families, friends and members of the local community for a fun-filled summer fete, raising an impressive £379 for the residents’ fund.
The event was officially opened by the Mayor of Royston, who cut a large red ribbon to mark the beginning of the celebrations. Visitors enjoyed a BBQ, homemade cakes, jams and tea, alongside a variety of stalls including a tombola, bric-a-brac, raffle and a free prize draw to win £20.
One of the highlights was the wet sponge game, with residents thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to throw wet sponges at Home Manager Neshie!
Elvis also returned to entertain the home after proving a firm favourite with residents earlier this year. His singing and dancing brought plenty of smiles and had everyone joining in with the fun.
The fete was made possible thanks to the wonderful support of volunteers from the Maycroft community, who helped organise the event, provided generous donations and assisted throughout the day.
Visitors praised the warm, homely atmosphere at Maycroft, commenting on how happy the residents appeared and how caring and considerate the team were.
Following the event, the Mayor of Royston shared: “There is always so much happiness and laughter when we visit Maycroft. It was a great pleasure to be with you.”
A huge thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered or donated and helped make the day such a wonderful success.
