Millview Nursing Home Celebrates Valentine’s Day with an Italian Romance

Love was in the air at Millview Nursing Home this Valentine’s Day as residents embarked on a romantic journey to Italy—without leaving the comfort of their home. In the spirit of love and adventure, residents were asked to choose a romantic city for this year’s Valentine’s lunch, and Venice emerged as the clear favourite.

To celebrate, our kitchen team prepared a delicious Italian-inspired menu featuring minestrone soup, pasta Bolognese, and a delectable Italian coffee cake. Residents indulged in these classic flavours while immersing themselves in the magic of Italy.

The celebrations continued with a virtual tour of some of Italy’s most breath-taking landmarks. Residents explored the stunning island of Capri, marvelled at the iconic Trevi Fountain, and admired the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. Conversations flourished as we chatted about gondola rides in Venice, the legendary Casanova, and the timeless romance of Romeo and Juliet.

To make the day even more special, each resident received a beautiful rose, accompanied by a chocolate and a slice of cake for afternoon tea. The thoughtful gesture was met with delight, with the men enjoying the treats just as much as the women.
