Netherton Green Couple Celebrates 62 Years of Marriage

Love was in the air at Netherton Green Care Home as Ken and Jen Melson celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary with a very special celebration organised by the home’s team.

The couple, who have been married since 1964, were treated to a day filled with thoughtful touches. Jen wore a beautiful white gown and shawl, finished with a pink fascinator, while Ken waited eagerly for her arrival.

When Jen entered carrying a handmade bouquet created by House Manager Ella, an emotional Ken told her how beautiful she looked—a touching moment that brought tears to the eyes of those watching.

 

The couple then enjoyed a three-course meal prepared by the home’s chef, complete with heart-shaped bread and their favourite dessert, Viennetta.

During the celebration, Ken and Jen reminisced about their wedding day, recalling their bridesmaids, page boy and the music that accompanied the occasion.

One of the most memorable moments came when Ken serenaded Jen by singing along to Julie Rogers’ The Wedding (Ave Maria), leaving barely a dry eye in the room.

 

Karen Winmill, Activities Coordinator at Netherton Green, said: “It was one of the most wonderful days we’ve ever had at Netherton Green—Ken and Jen are a magical couple.”

The Netherton Green team felt privileged to help the couple celebrate their enduring love and create another treasured memory together.
