Netherton Green Staff Brave the Cold for the Great Tommy Sleep Out

15 April 2025

On Saturday 5th April, dedicated staff from Netherton Green took part in the Great Tommy Sleep Out, a nationwide initiative supporting homeless veterans. Determined to raise awareness and funds for this worthy cause, the team camped out in one of the outer gardens of the home—facing the cold night with great spirit and resilience.

Despite temperatures dropping significantly in the early hours, the group remained outside until 5am. After a short break inside the tent for some warmth and rest, they were back up and outdoors again—this time with a much-needed cup of tea in hand.

The event was not only a heartfelt tribute to the struggles many veterans face, but also a fantastic opportunity for staff to bond outside of their usual work environment. “We don’t often get time to sit and chat at work, so this gave us a real chance to connect,” one team member shared.

So far, the group has raised nearly £700, with the final total expected to be confirmed by Friday. Their efforts are a shining example of community spirit and compassion in action.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who supported the event, including those who took part: Karen (Activities and Wellbeing Coordinator), Nikki (Administrator) and her son Brody, Gemma (Housekeeper) and her daughter Payton, and Ella (House Manager) with her husband Shaun.

Well done to all involved for braving the cold and making a real difference.
