Norwood Care Home Hosts Heartwarming Mother’s Day Celebration
24 April 2025
Mother’s Day was truly special at Norwood Care Home this year, thanks to the thoughtful planning of activities coordinator Ellen, manager Sue, and care assistant Barbie. The team came together to organise a beautiful celebration where residents and their families could spend quality time and make lasting memories.
One of the most touching moments of the day was seeing resident Grace surrounded by four generations of her family — her daughter Jacqui, granddaughter Abbi, and great-grandson Jack. The joy on their faces was clear as they danced together to live music performed by singer Gary Black. Grace, Jacqui, and Abbi were beaming as they took to the dancefloor, enjoying every moment of the lively entertainment.
Resident Mary also had a special moment of her own. Once more reserved and preferring the quiet of her room, Mary has blossomed in recent months whenever music is involved. On Mother’s Day, she sat singing along to every song, transformed by the joy that music brings her.
After the entertainment ended, residents and families moved into the dining room for a delicious buffet, lovingly prepared by Norwood’s talented chef, Ryan. From tasty sausage rolls — a big hit with one resident’s grandson — to beautifully baked cakes, the food was as much a highlight as the entertainment.
What made the day even more heartwarming was the sense of togetherness; Sue, her daughter, and staff made sure everyone, including male residents who wished to join, felt included and celebrated. The home was filled with laughter, dancing, and smiling faces — a true reflection of the love and effort that went into making the day so meaningful.
