Oxford Manor Care Home Launches Free Baby Sign Language Sessions
23 September 2025
Oxford Manor Care Home in Didcot has launched free drop-in baby sign language sessions, inviting new parents and their babies to learn alongside residents in a supportive and joyful environment.
The idea came from Kate Prince, wellbeing coordinator and experienced signing teacher, who wanted to create meaningful, multigenerational experiences.
Ms Prince said: “Everyone is welcome as we love hosting members of our community at the home.
“It’s extremely gratifying for me to see the impact these sessions have on residents and the babies.
“I love running the signing class and hope that more families can benefit from teaching their babies to sign.”
Residents have embraced the sessions.
Lorraine Pratt, 73, said: “I was amazed to find out that babies can learn sign language, and it’s so adorable to watch them respond.
