Oxford Manor Care Home Relaunch Party Brings Joy to the Community

30 September 2024

This past weekend, Oxford Manor Care Home celebrated its grand relaunch with a vibrant party filled with entertainment, food, and camaraderie. The sun shone brightly on the event, creating a perfect backdrop for a day dedicated to residents, their families, friends, and members of the local community.

The festivities kicked off with a captivating array of performers that showcased the talents of local entertainers. Katy Kartwheel Circus Passion and friends dazzled guests with their thrilling circus performances.

While the Abingdon Traditional Morris Dancers brought a touch of heritage to the celebration. The O’Gara Irish School of Dance added an energetic flair, delighting attendees with their lively routines.

Musical talents were on full display, featuring violinist Mark Anstead, saxophonist Alan Hook, and harpist Lizzie Peacock, each adding their unique sound to the joyful atmosphere. Guests were invited to participate in an art workshop hosted by Ribberty Rabbit Crafting, where residents and community members collaborated to create a lasting piece of artwork to commemorate the day. Children giggled and smiled as they transformed into colorful characters thanks to Karen Harrison, the talented face painter.

Adding to the festive spirit, the food and drink offerings were nothing short of delightful. Black Butter Dining served up delectable treats from their Bar Noir, while Sweet Daisy offered aromatic coffees and hot waffles, enticing the senses. BKB Food ensured that everyone had access to hearty meals throughout the day.

The event also featured a variety of community contributions, with special thanks to ConfettiMagic for providing explosive confetti cannons, and Erjola Bakes, which supplied the stunning official cake. Local photographer Sebastian Engert captured all the smiles and laughter, preserving the memories of this remarkable day.

Home Manager Su delivered an inspiring speech, welcoming everyone and expressing pride in the relaunch. “Today marks not just a new chapter in our journey, but a heartfelt commitment to compassion, respect, and community,” she said, highlighting the incredible dedication of the staff. Her words resonated with the audience, reinforcing the home’s mission to provide a nurturing and enriching environment for its residents.

Tobias Ikekwem, a care assistant at Oxford Manor, also took a moment to acknowledge the efforts of everyone involved, especially Manager Su and Deputy Manager Madeline. With gratitude and enthusiasm, he cut the ribbon, officially declaring the care home open and inviting everyone to join in the celebration of community and kindness.

The event was a resounding success, filled with laughter, creativity, and a strong sense of belonging. Oxford Manor Care Home looks forward to continuing its mission of providing a warm and supportive environment for its residents while strengthening ties with the community. Here’s to a bright future filled with joy, healing, and friendship!
