Pancake Day Flipping Fun at Maycroft Care Home!

Residents and staff at Maycroft Care Home had a flipping great time celebrating Shrove Tuesday with a day full of laughter, competition, and – of course – delicious pancakes!

The highlight of the day was the pancake flipping contest, where Robert and Hazel emerged as the champion flippers. Their impressive skills earned them the top spot, but it was the less successful flips that provided the most laughs. Pancakes flew through the air, with some landing on the floor, others being caught mid-air, and a few even making an unexpected landing on people’s faces – much to everyone’s amusement!

The fun didn’t stop there. Residents also took part in a pancake tossing challenge, testing how high and far they could launch their pancakes. There were plenty of giggles as pancakes soared through the air (and sometimes straight onto the floor). It was a lighthearted and joyful way to celebrate the day, bringing back fond memories for many.

After all the action, everyone gathered to enjoy freshly made pancakes prepared by our talented chef. From chocolate spread to fruit and syrup, there was a topping to satisfy every taste. However, the classic lemon and sugar combination was the clear favourite among residents.

The day was a wonderful mix of fun, food, and connection, with residents reminiscing about making pancakes with their families over the years. Pancake Day at Maycroft was a sweet success – quite literally!
