Parklands Court Care Home Brings Generations Together for a Morning of Fun and Laughter

11 May 2026

Residents at Parklands Court Care Home recently enjoyed a heartwarming morning of intergenerational activities as Activity Coordinators Allie and Louise brought their children to spend time with residents as part of the home’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and meaningful connection.

Children Jade, Oliver, Luna, and Evie quickly brought energy and excitement to the home, joining residents for a variety of fun activities throughout the morning. Together, they enjoyed dancing, colouring, painting, magnet fishing, necklace making, balloon batting, and playing interactive games using the home’s digital activity board.

The visit created a wonderful atmosphere across the home, filled with smiles, laughter, and conversation as residents and children spent quality time together. Intergenerational activities like these are known to support wellbeing, reduce feelings of loneliness, and encourage meaningful social interaction for residents, while also helping younger generations build confidence and understanding around older people.

Residents thoroughly enjoyed the experience, with many commenting on the joy the children brought into the home. One resident shared: “It’s lovely hearing children laughing again — it brightens the whole place up.” Another added: “They’ve made my day. Watching them play and join in with us has been wonderful.”

The interactive board proved particularly popular, with residents and children working together during games and cheering each other on throughout the morning. The activities encouraged teamwork, creativity, and plenty of friendly competition.

The morning was a fantastic example of how bringing generations together can create meaningful moments and lasting memories for everyone involved. Parklands Court Care Home looks forward to hosting more intergenerational experiences in the future, continuing to build strong community connections and joyful shared experiences for residents.
