Residents at Ryland View Enjoy an Afternoon of Pizza Making
2 October 2024

Residents at Ryland View Care Home recently spent a fun-filled afternoon creating their own delicious pizzas as part of the home’s ongoing efforts to engage them in meaningful activities. The session, organised by Activities Coordinator Sarah and Admin Jess, was a huge hit, with residents enthusiastically crafting their own versions of the classic dish.

John, one of the residents who took part, said, “I have really enjoyed making these pizzas. It’s nice to have these activities to do whilst being here!” The cooking session is part of Ryland View’s BHappie movement, designed to keep residents engaged with everyday routines and activities they’ve always enjoyed, including cooking and baking.

Sarah, who has been working closely with Jess to make these sessions a regular occurrence, highlighted the impact of these activities. “I have been working really hard with Jess to bring in a cooking/baking activity each week. We’ve found that baking and cooking have been a massive positive step forward, which has brought our BHappie initiative to life, allowing our residents to feel connected.”
The initiative has been met with enthusiasm, as Jess shared, “It’s been a very fun afternoon, and these weekly baking/cooking activities have really brought joy to our residents. It was a great idea that Sarah and I had to make this a weekly thing.”

Brenda, another resident, expressed her joy, saying, “I absolutely love cooking and baking. I used to do loads when I was younger, and it’s bringing lots of joy back into my life. Thank you, girls, for organising this!”

With activities like these, Ryland View Care Home continues to enrich the lives of its residents, ensuring they remain engaged in activities they’ve always loved, while fostering a strong sense of community and connection.
