Residents of Priory Care Home Enjoy an Afternoon of Music and Dance
5 February 2025
On Thursday, 30th January 2025, the residents and staff of Priory Care Home came together for a delightful afternoon of entertainment, transforming the main lounge into a lively dance floor.
The event featured an energetic performance by Martin Kelly, whose singing and dancing brought joy to everyone in attendance. Martin’s visit was generously sponsored by West & Coe Funeral Services, which continues to support the care home’s entertainment events. Alongside Martin, Agness from West & Coe also made her customary visit, bringing an assortment of delicious cakes for the residents to enjoy alongside their tea and coffee.
The atmosphere was filled with laughter and song as residents joined in to sing along to classic tunes, including Save The Last Dance for Me by The Drifters, It Must Be Love by Madness, Tie a Yellow Ribbon by Tony Orlando and Dawn, and You To Me Are Everything by The Real Thing. The lounge quickly became the home’s very own dance floor, with staff and residents swaying, clapping, and dancing to the music.
Among those thoroughly enjoying the festivities was resident Joyce Alen, who has a deep love for music and dancing. She expressed her delight, saying, “Beautiful, lovely, nice bloke—I loved every minute of it.” Fellow resident Pat Fletcher shared similar sentiments, stating, “I thoroughly enjoyed dancing and singing; it was the best afternoon.” Meanwhile, Beryl Parker, another resident, particularly appreciated the sweet treats, commenting, “The cakes were beautiful and delicious and went down a treat, especially with all the music.”
Adding to the vibrancy of the afternoon, Sharon Marlow, a valued care assistant and former dance teacher, helped residents up onto the dance floor, ensuring that everyone who wanted to participate had the chance to do so. Heather Roberts, the care home’s administrator, also joined in the fun, later remarking, “I enjoyed joining in with the afternoon—it was lovely to see everyone smile.” Even the home’s manager joined in, stating, “It was wonderful to welcome Martin and Agness back to Priory and to see the enjoyment they brought to our residents.”
The event left a lasting impression on residents, with many continuing to talk about the experience well into the evening. The uplifting energy of the afternoon filled the home with smiles and laughter, creating cherished memories for all involved.
Priory Care Home looks forward to welcoming Martin Kelly and Agness back soon and remains grateful for their continued support in bringing entertainment and joy to the residents.
