Ryland View Hosts Creative Pumpkin Craft Morning, Bringing Smiles and Connection to Residents

18 November 2024

Ryland View Care Home embraced the Halloween spirit with a creative pumpkin craft morning that brought residents, staff, and the community together for a fun and engaging activity. Guided by Activity Co-Ordinator Sarah, residents transformed simple materials into delightful pumpkin decorations, using toilet rolls, craft paper, cinnamon sticks, and green ribbon.

The morning was filled with laughter and concentration as residents immersed themselves in the craft session, which was inspired by an idea Sarah discovered online. Reflecting on the success of the activity, Sarah said, “I saw this online and straight away spoke with Jess about how much fun it would be. Seeing the residents’ hard work and smiles today has been so rewarding!”

The craft session was part of Advinia’s “B Happie” movement, which focuses on creating a safe, connected, and relaxing environment for residents. The artistic activity allowed residents to showcase their creativity and enjoy meaningful interactions with each other and the staff.

Resident Norman shared his enthusiasm: “I really enjoy arts and crafts; this has been a great activity to join in with!”

Mick, another resident, took great pride in his creation and decided to share it with Jess in the admin office. “I love anything like this,” Mick said. “I especially enjoyed painting the pumpkin, which I have now given to Jess in the admin office. She’s put it in her window!” Jess was thrilled with the gesture, marveling at the creativity behind the craft: “This was so clever; you would never think it was toilet roll, ha ha. What a great idea, and now I have my very own pumpkin in my office thanks to Mick.”

The morning not only allowed residents to showcase their artistic talents but also fostered a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie. Sarah praised everyone’s efforts, saying, “From the smiles on their faces, it’s clear how much they enjoyed it. Well done, everyone—they look FAB!”

As the residents admired their finished pumpkins, it was evident that the craft session had achieved more than just decorations—it brought joy, creativity, and connection to all involved. Ryland View Care Home is proud to continue organizing activities like these that embody the spirit of its “B Happie” philosophy, ensuring residents feel valued, supported, and engaged.
