Small Plates and Big Conversations at Oxford Manor

24 September 2026

Oxford Manor Care Home welcomed residents, relatives, colleagues, local community representatives and professional stakeholders for a special Small Plates evening on Friday 11th September.

The event provided an opportunity for guests to enjoy delicious homemade food while discussing how Oxford Manor can build stronger relationships with organisations across Oxfordshire.

Conversations throughout the evening explored how the home can support the wider community, strengthen connections for older people, help reduce social isolation and collaborate more closely with local healthcare, voluntary and community partners.

Guests enjoyed a drinks reception before Home Manager Flenton D’Cruz spoke about the residents, families, colleagues and community partners who make Oxford Manor feel like a genuine home.

Food was at the heart of the evening, with Oxford Manor’s chef, Gabriel, preparing a varied selection of homemade dishes. The menu included grilled fish, oven-roasted chicken with a creamy leek sauce, homemade beef stew, mushroom and pepper stroganoff, quiche, soups and a tempting selection of desserts.

The evening also reflected Advinia Health Care’s commitment to food, choice and a positive dining experience. Mealtimes are about more than nutrition—they should bring enjoyment, comfort and familiarity while creating valuable opportunities for residents to come together.

Providing variety and carefully considering individual preferences, allergies and dietary requirements are essential parts of delivering a welcoming and person-centred experience.

Notable guests included Eddy McDowall, Chief Executive of the Oxfordshire Association of Care Providers; Graham Beith, Chair of Vale Community Impact; and Liz Bhardwaj from GirlsWithPowerWI.

The Small Plates evening was a wonderful opportunity to bring people together, share ideas and begin conversations that could lead to meaningful new partnerships across Oxfordshire.

Oxford Manor would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to such a warm and engaging evening.
