Haydale Care Home celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with a lively and engaging experience, bringing joy and festive cheer to residents. The morning was filled with Irish props, such as shamrock glasses, leprechaun hats, and green decorations, setting the tone for a fun-filled celebration. Traditional Irish music filled the air, sparking connection as residents sang along and tapped their feet to well-loved tunes. The energy soared as residents enjoyed dancing and swinging each other around to the lively rhythms of “Tell Me Ma.”
A special highlight of the day was a lively Irish jig performance by the Wellbeing staff, which had everyone laughing and smiling. To ensure everyone could participate safely, staff facilitated seated dancing and light activities tailored to each resident’s abilities. The relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, enhanced by shared stories of Irish heritage, fostered a sense of belonging and created lasting memories for all.
The morning was a wash of green, white, and gold, with residents enjoying the lively Irish pub songs, stamping their feet, and clapping along. To keep the celebrations going, there was even a live music concert with singer Sharon ‘Shamrock’ Stevens towards the end of the week.
Vera Anderson, one of the home’s Irish residents, said, “It’s like being back home,” reflecting the warmth and familiarity of the event. Isabel Cummings, Wellbeing Coordinator, summed up the success of the day, saying, “The luck of the Irish was with us for this successful event, everyone was smiling and laughing.”
