Sun, Smiles, Scones and a Scorching Hot Day at Roseacres Care Home

30 June 2026

Residents, families, friends, and neighbours came together at Roseacres Care Home on Friday 19th June to celebrate Care Home Open Week with a delightful afternoon of sunshine, companionship, and traditional garden party treats.

The home opened its doors and spilled out into its beautiful sun-drenched gardens, creating a wonderful setting for a community celebration that brought generations together. With music playing gently in the background, guests found themselves tapping their feet and singing along to much-loved Golden Oldies throughout the afternoon.

One of the highlights of the day was an incredibly popular game of bingo. So many people joined in that the team joked they nearly ran out of counters as the game attracted a record number of players.

The gardens were decorated with colourful balloons and bunting swaying in the summer breeze, adding to the festive atmosphere. Guests also enjoyed a traditional afternoon tea featuring an assortment of sandwiches, savoury treats, and a tempting selection of homemade cakes, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy.

For many residents, simply spending time outdoors and socialising with loved ones made the day extra special. One resident reflected:

“It is lovely to be outside and enjoy the fresh air. It reminds me of old times when I would spend hours in my garden. Happy days.”

Adding to the occasion, residents and visitors enjoyed refreshing homemade mocktails while chatting and sharing memories in the sunshine.

The afternoon was made even more special with a visit from local Member of Parliament, Dan Tomlinson MP, who joined residents, families, and staff for a traditional English cup of tea and spent time chatting with everyone. The home was also delighted to use a beautiful Royal Doulton fine china tea service, generously donated by a local neighbour. The elegant tea set added a touch of occasion to the garden party, with many guests commenting on how special everything looked.

The event perfectly captured the spirit of Care Home Open Week, celebrating friendship, community, and the simple pleasures of spending quality time together. By the end of the afternoon, there were plenty of smiles, full hearts, and happy memories to cherish.

As one guest summed up, it truly was a fun time had by all.
